Pigeons Problem

Everybody knows about the serious problem due to the huge number of pigeons in our city. In the wild pigeon lives on average between 3 and 6 years but, if tamed they can live about 15 years. The large presence of food has led them to settle in our cities, pigeons have learned to exploit multiple food sources and although their natural diet would be made up of seeds and grains (when in season) they will exploit virtually any food available to them.

The droppings of the pigeons contain a great amount of acids, which diluted from external atmospheric agents, such as rain and moisture, are easily able to penetrate into the structures of brick or stone, triggering irreversible process of degradation. Guano deposited over time is the vehicle of transmission of infectious diseases  for humans and domestic animals such as Salmonellosis, Cryptococcosis, Histoplasmosis, Ornithosis, aspergillosis, candidiasis, Chlamydia, Coccidiosis, encephalitis, tuberculosis etc. Colonies of birds are always characterized by the presence of bedbugs, mites, ticks and fleas that cause dangerous infestations in buildings in which they are set.
